  1. Several issues here. Old rodent guy using old methods (Baitboxes, traps & gap Foam). Basically refill bait boxes and bill the customer x10 restaurants a day = $$$$$. Lazy. Should have been closing up gaps with cladding and steel. Rats use the expanded foam for nesting material, and they ignore traps and bait boxes. Pest Co should have been front and centre on this. [I'm a rodent guy specialising in restaurants].

  2. Here's the deal. Health inspectors typically require a business to have a pest control contract. Pest control companies visit once a month. When they come visit, they check the traps and replace if something is caught. They typically don't write down if they've caught something, because that sheet can be recalled by a health inspector. It's easy money for a pest control company because they know a restaurant is required to have a contract with them. All they do is come check the traps, that's it. They're in and out in 5 minutes. If you have a problem after a visit, you can pay extra for pest control to come out, but they just do the same thing. They don't foam, they dont plug holes, they don't care about prevention. So if you have giant rats who can get into a place if they set their mind to it, you're shit out of luck. Pest control ain't gonna come out with any sort of speed to fix your problem. This waffle house got lucky that it made the news and it's the only reason why they got a pest control guy to go to their roof and foam up their pipes. If city officials really cared about pest control, they would have restauranteurs do their own pest control weekly. It would cost the business the same, but instead of having someone come in once a month, they could have an owner do it 4 times a month for the same cost.
