Vintage Plane That Went Down In Connecticut Also Crashed At Beaver Co. Airport In 1987


PART OF AN EDUCATIONAL GROUP THAT SET UP THE WINGS OF FREEDOM VINTAGE AIRCRAFT DISPLAY AT THE AIRPORT THIS WEEK. NOW THIS EXACT PLANE CRASH WHILE TRYING TO LAND AT THE BEAVER COUNTY AIRPORT DURING AN AIR SHOW BACK IN 1987. IT OVERSHOT THE RUNWAY DURING SOME GUSTY WINDS, AND AT THAT TIME KDKA SPOKE WITH ONE OF THE PEOPLE WHO WAS ON BOARD WHEN IT WENT INTO SOME TREES, PAST THE END OF THE RUNWAY. I KNEW WE WERE GOING OVER BUT I DIDN’T HAVE MUCH OF A SENSATION EXCEPT DETACHED CURIOSITY. WE WENT OVER, AND I WAS OUT FOR A FEW MOMENTS OBVIOUSLY, BUT I CAME TO WITH MY FEET OUTSIDE OF THE PLANE IN FRONT OF THE ENGINE. THIS IS FROM BACK IN 1987, THREE PEOPLE WERE INJURED IN THAT CRASH, THE FAA SAYS THE

  1. This crash had nothing to do with the crash the other day. This plane was repaired by qualified aircraft mechanics who also loved this plane.
    These planes are constantly looked after and Mac had over 7000 hours flying his baby, 909.
    The news media needs to wait till the FAA report is final and quit with their normal witch-hunts….
